At only 10 min away from mainland by boat, the discreet island of Batz is blessed by its beauty and character. Visitors are all awe-struck by its landscapes of jagged rocks, dunes, shingle bar and fine sandy beaches. The inhabitants are all very active and live of inshore fishing as well as of early fruits and vegetables growing, the latter being now a specialty of the island. The microclimate explains the presence of an extraordinary exotic garden: le Jardin Exotique Georges Delaselle.

Nature
The island of Batz offers all the aspects of natural coastal areas : dunes and the beach de la Grève blanche, shingle bars and heath landscapes on the west side.
La Station Biologique de Roscoff, a marine biology and oceanology research and teaching centre at Roscoff, has listed more than 500 species of seaweed. All this kelp, found in abundance, is used by the farmers for manuring the fields of early fruits and vegetables.
